The Process

Meditation and Madness

In the stillness of repetition and the wildness of creation, a line emerges that becomes a reflection of both clarity and chaos.

Each single-line drawing begins with a looping song—a track I play on repeat until its rhythm feels like second nature. The music becomes my anchor, guiding my focus and the natural flow of my hand. I practice the line path over and over, committing it to muscle memory. This step is essential—it ensures the line remains unbroken and the flow uninterrupted. By the time I put pen to paper, the motion feels effortless, almost instinctual, allowing me to draw with precision and fluidity.

This process prevents ink bleeds and hesitation, ensuring the final piece has clarity, breath, and form. An unbroken line is more than just technique; it gives the drawing a sense of life and intention, as if it moves and breathes on its own. It’s through this uninterrupted flow that each piece transforms from a simple drawing into something timeless, meaningful, and alive.

Mastering the Flow

Step 1: Finding the Line

The first step is trial and error. I draw the same path over and over again, sometimes as many as 80 times, until it feels right. The line has to strike a balance: it should suggest a likeness, but not spell it out. Too much detail, and it loses its intrigue. Too little, and it doesn’t connect.

Step 2: Practicing the Flow

Once the line is perfect, I prepare for the final stroke. I put on a song and loop it endlessly. The rhythm helps me rehearse the movement until it feels natural, like second nature. It’s not just about the line anymore—it’s about the flow of my hand, the energy of the moment, and letting the process feel effortless.

Step 3: The Final Stroke

When it’s time to put ink to paper, everything comes together. One stroke, uninterrupted. All the practice, all the refinement, all the intention—it all lives in that single moment. I use handmade cotton rag paper with hand-torn edges because it brings a softness and authenticity to the finished piece.

The Commission Process

My art isn’t about perfect detail or precision. It’s about creating space for you—space to see your own story, your own memory, in the simplicity of a line. I’ve done the work to make it intentional.

But what it means to you... that’s yours to decide.

The commission process begins with a personal Zoom call or studio visit to discuss your vision for the piece. From there, we work collaboratively through inspiration, refinement, and creation, ensuring the final artwork perfectly captures the essence of your story.
